You lifted the protective mat under your desk chair and the smell made your eyes water or maybe you smelled it when you opened a closet door or an unvented room. Did you order a light colored vinyl flooring for your kitchen but now the floor has a darker color coming through? Maybe it has a grey or green tint, maybe it has a purple or orange hue or maybe it has bubbled or lifted off of the floor.
These problems and many others are caused by moisture vapor coming up through the concrete slab. This condition is occurring more frequently here in the Phoenix area and there are a few factors that contribute to the problem. Before we cover those factors, lets look at the problem a little closer.
The Issues
Moisture vapor coming up through a slab can cause wood floors to warp, delaminate swell and promotes mold growth. The moisture can cause the mastic that holds tile to the floor to fail, this leads to the floor tiles sounding hollow and lifting off the floor. The vapor frequently passes through carpet and other floorings unless there is some type of vapor barrier. Vinyl flooring creates a barrier by itself, other examples of barriers could be a chair mat, floor runners with a non-slip backing or anything else that prevents the moisture from escaping. The bottom line is, if moisture can’t pass through the flooring, then it is trapped under the flooring. That leads to the next question, where does the moisture come from?
The Source
The moisture typically comes from two sources. The water in the concrete mix slowly dries by traveling to the top of the slab and evaporating. This process can take six months to completely dry a properly placed slab. The other source of moisture is from the soil beneath the slab. Moisture evaporates and once concrete is placed on the ground, the evaporation of moisture in the soil is severely restricted. The moisture in the ground is rarely viewed, discussed or even considered an issue during construction since the slab is still in the drying process and there is not a large temperature difference above and below the concrete. However, this changes once the home is completed. Now the air inside the home is conditioned and the temperature change and pressure change along with the difference in relative humidity between the air above the slab and the soil beneath the slab causes a vapor pressure difference. Simply put, moisture travels from heat to cool. The moisture under the slab is drawn to the cool, dry, air conditioned concrete slab. Concrete is porous, it is not water proof and the moisture vapor rises to and passes through the slab by capillary action and vapor diffusion.
The Cause
Moisture under a slab wasn’t an issue in the desert a few years ago, but today is a different story. Today’s construction techniques are a little different, contractors are flooding building pads to address issues with the soil like compaction and expansiveness. Homes are also being constructed on properties that used to be agricultural land. This land may have been a dairy or a farm field that used to be irrigated frequently. Soils tests are commonly performed before the land is developed. Recently these soils tests results indicate moisture levels of 20% to 50% in the soil anywhere from two to 10 feet down. (it is rare that soil samples are taken below 10 feet deep) It takes a long time for moisture to rise to the top of a concrete slab from 10 feet down, maybe even years.
Sometimes the grading and drainage of the property directs moisture into the soil below the foundation. This, in effect, can recharge the moisture source under the slab. There is also the possibility of an underground plumbing leak or the landscape system adding moisture to the soil under the slab. However, homes are built on moist soils all over the world, why do we have a moisture problem in the desert?
Construction Issues
The moisture is drawn up to and through the slab by capillary action, vapor diffusion and evaporation. The quickest way to prevent the moisture from migrating through the slab is to stop these actions from occurring.
One of the things that need to change is the aggregate base course (ABC) that is being used in the desert. Currently the ABC is a sand/stone mixture, however sand promotes the capillary action and therefore makes a poor choice as ABC in an area where there is an elevated moisture content in the subsoils. Using a stone as ABC would help eliminate the capillary action.
Another way to reduce the moisture is to provide adequate grading and drainage. This should include controlling roof drainage and diverting it at least 8 feet away from the foundation. The landscaping plumbing and control valves should also be located several feet away from the foundation as the control valves have a tendency to leak and the further away that moisture is from the foundation, the less impact it will have on the foundation.
The most effective way to control the moisture is with a vapor barrier. This is a thin plastic sheet placed on top of the ABC before the concrete is poured. Previous construction practices would place the vapor barrier below the ABC or place a thin layer of sand on top of the vapor barrier so that moisture could escape through the top and bottom of the slab, however the moisture still migrates up through the slab. Placing the barrier below the sand or ABC creates a reservoir for the water that drains from the wet concrete and capillary action prevents moisture from draining by gravity through the sand.
It may interest you to know that a vapor retarder is required by the International Residential Code (IRC) in section 506.2.3, however, it may be omitted if the local building official approves the omission due to local site conditions. So how is the issue corrected?
Correcting the Issue
The best way to get rid of the moisture in the slab is to prevent it from getting there in the first place. Check the moisture content of the soil, use ABC that is ½ inch or larger and install a vapor barrier above the ABC and below the concrete. If the home is already built and you own it then you need the help of professionals.
Have a calcium chloride test performed on the floor slab to determine the rate of vapor transmission through the slab. If floor coverings are present they will need to be removed before and during the testing. Testing commonly takes 24 to 60 hours. There are many different flooring companies that can perform this test for you, or contact the engineer you want to assist you with this project.
Check for moisture sources around the home including grading, drainage, irrigation, roof downspouts, and swimming pools. Have the supply and the waste plumbing checked for leaks. If you still have not corrected the issue, then consult with professionals. Expect them to core through the slab and determine if a vapor barrier is present and investigate the conditions of the soil and ABC under the slab.
Methods of repair are limited and should be considered fully before proceeding. The slab surface can be sealed. This will reduce or even stop the vapor transmission temporarily. A good sealer may last ten years, inexpensive sealers may not last a year. Before sealing, all floor coverings and furnishings will need to be removed from the slab. There are other methods of venting or draining the slab that are available, some involve forcing air under the slab or drawing air from under the slab. Another method is to install a drainage system that gets the moisture away from the slab. All of these repairs should be reviewed by an engineer before they are implemented, and the work should be performed by a contractor experienced in this area.

Darko Trifunovic and I Visit Senator Tim Nicholson in DC
We both drove to Washington DC together to meet with Republican Senator, Tim Nicholson. Darko spent the night at his house and I in a hotel room on the Beltway. We had brought with us tons of secret information on Al Qaeda operatives with us for this visit but Darko left it all with me in my room and Senator Nicholson did not view it. Senator Nicholson took us out to breakfast early that morning and told us that "In DC, we are alla bunch of paid whores for campaign contributions." The Republika Srpska Information Agency was very generous to help America fight terrorism on many occasions. The boxes I stayed with that night had papers and photos of tons of Al Qaeda operatives.
During the time when I was complaining about constant gas leaks in my home, a bunch of Bloomingdale, NJ policemen came over about 7PM at night to investigate before the major fire at my house.
They threatened me that if I call anyone about a gas leak again, they’d take me to the local mental hospital and told me I could not leave the house that night OR they would force me into a metnal hospital (Chilton in Pompton Plains NJ USA)
While one officer told me I could not go out or call the police anymore that night, one officer sneaked over to my oven in my kitchen and turned it up on high like he was trying to start a fire while I was complaining about my gas leaks!
I have over 35 reports of gas leask verified from my local gas company at PSE & G to prove this.
I allege the Bloomingdale and West Mmilford NJ USA Police are complicit in attempting to murder because me owing to my eye witness testimony to the 2001 International Criminal Court Preparatory meetings at the United Nations in NYC in 2001 and its association with the Radovan Karadzic trial at the ICTY in the Netherlands and international witness tampering.

Dear Friends: I have told this factual autobiographical account prior. However, this was during the height of NATO’s illegal war launched against Jugoslavija so I am unsure if this e-mail ever reached the entire audience for which it was intended. Hence, I am re-sending a brief account of whereby one United States University in New York City assisted Bill Clinton and Tony Blair in plotting, orchestrating, launching and perpetuating Albanian-KLA Nationalism and ethnic genocide directed against the Orthodox Christian Serbs in Kosovo. (See Attachment for formal proof).
I. It was in the Fall of 1997, my first semester in graduate school at the New School for Social Research when I noticed the bulletin on the wall that announced the Albanian Pro-KLA Nationalist Fatmos Ljubonia was going to give a lecture on Albanian Nationalism at the New School for Social Research in NYC (5th and 14th Streets in Wolffe Conference Room 2nd floor). This lecture was undoubtedly funded by the USIP and the WPI (the World Policy Institute resides on the fourth floor of the schools location).
II. Evidently, this particular lecture sparked my interest like none other owing to my serious commitment in following the various political & international trends regarding the Kosovo / Serbia & Bosnia wars and what would occur next. Therefore I made it my business to sit in on this lecture.
III. At that time, primarily the students attending this lecture and (it was a full house) were from parts of the world (like Asia) who knew nothing about Serbia and Kosovo. So they were very interested to hear what Fatmos Ljubonia had to say about the plight of the ethnic Albanians in Kosovo. There were only two graduate students who really knew what was going on in Kosovo at that time between the Albanians and the Serbs. (me and this Albanian student). I sat in for about 1 and 1/2 hours taking notes and listening. Then I left. Here is a short and brief description of the lecture.
IV. Primarily Fatmos at first attempted to elicit as much sympathy as humanly possible from the New School graduate students. He began the lecture by explaining that the Serbian government had imprisoned him for 20 years. and treated him in an inhumane manner. He did not explain why to us.
V. He quickly then shifted (to be blunt)–he spent the rest of his lecture lying to the (students) about the current situation in Kosovo. He supplied lies as answers to the students questions about Serbia, Albania and Kosovo and Fatmos completely bad-mouthed the Serbian government blaming it, for myriad human right violations not only committed against him (as he claimed) but also against him all ethnic Albanians in Kosovo.
VI. He completely this question and answer session quite pleased with himself since most of my classmates later indicated to me that they were shocked to hear about the conditions under which Fatmos claimed the ethnic Albanians were living under in Kosovo. I knew the man was a filthy liar but I could not say anything at the time. So he lied lied and he lied more!
VI. As I said I left early but I will never forget his phrase stating: “I, Fatmos Ljubonia, have come to the New School for Social Research to ask you, The New School students, to give me, Fatmos Ljubonia, new creative nationalist ideas to PROMOTE AND TO CONSTRUCT A GREATER ALBANIA!”
VII. Now there were a hell of a lot of New School faculty members also present who knew the truth about what really was going on between Serbia, the Western liberal think tanks at the New School for Social Research and their king, Bill Clinton regarding Kosovo. However, evidently these were the same political science professors such as David PLotke who later tossed me out of graduate school only three weeks prior my anticipated MA graduation date on April 22 1999 at knife point (we all know about my Civil Rights Case against the school #02-99-2132.
VIII. I, Jill Starr have always stood up for the right political and social group, the Serbs of course. For it was not the Serbian authorities fault that NATO members and their corrupted politicians with a guilty as hell mens rea instigated and escalated the present ethnic contentions and genocide now occurring in Kosovo today!
XV. For this reason it does not surprise me that the semester before I was tossed out of school by POL SCI DEPT. CHAIR David Plotke, during my classes with the renown Robert Latham (from the SSRC in NYC) no one did anything when my Albanian classmate stated in front of many UN Diplomats that he 100% promoted “ethnic genocide against the Orthodox Christian Serbs in Kosovo!” Of course I reported the incident to both my human rights professor Adamantia Polllis and also the Dept. Chair David Plotke, yet neither of them did a damn thing! What they did do is allow my Albanian classmate to continue going to school and graduate while they decided to throw me out of school and ruin my life to the best of their corrupt abilities!
X. The Albanian classmate of mine even said to me in front of Robert Latham’s entire class (FALL 1998) this to me when I said I’d like to see a copy of his paper which he said is written to promote ethnic genocide against Orthodox Christian Serbs in Kosovo this— />”Jill, you will surely die before you ever see my term paper!” The New School faculty threw me out and kept the genocidal Albanian on April 22 1999! The Definition of a 'war crime' is an entire bloc (gang) of NATO United Nations Member States lying about Serbian 'war crimes' holding the country back, and its citizenry, from future generations having a better standard of living and basic human needs, by using economic sanctions, EU threats etc. to cover up their own political crimes; also against Republika Srpska too.

It was in this emergency snow storm in the late 1990s when I was attending William Paterson College in Wayne NJ I was living where this photo was taken on the corners of Route 23 North & Oak Ridge Road in West Milford NJ USA. This was taken on the corner stated where George Struss owns a car lot and rents small apartments.
It was during this state of emergency snow storm I had walked out of my apartment next to the bagel store in merely a dress and sweater because the bagel store was right next store to me. It was like walking out my front door into my neighborss but I had made a terrible mistake.
I had also placed my house keys and entire key ring in my car to warm it up but I had accidentally locked all my keys into my locked running black car as seen.
I also was locked out of my house in this storm.
I walked next store to the bagel store to call the West Milford police to help me jimmy my car door open so I could recover my keys and get into both my apartment and car safely.
The police came and saw my condition freezing and barely dressed in this storm in which the State of NJ was declared in a “state of emergency.”
The West Milford police said they would not belp me and left me freezing in the storm half dead.

I originally requested the lawfirm be disbarred from practicing law in the state of New Jersey back when I was attending William Paterson College in New Jersey prior to 1997.
It is public information any national news media group in America can prove beyond any doubt, by merely asking for it at the local Pompton Lakes New Jersey Court Clerk:
1) James A. Kridel Esq., his lawfirm, the West Milford Prosecutor (at that time between 1991-1997), my former landlord from whom I rented an apartment from, Brant Snell, his brother (joint owner of Snell’s property in Bloomingdale NJ, along with Harry Shortway and the West Milford Police Force, committed bribery, conspired to commit extortion with malicious intent against me, and also committed physical acts of terroristic threats against me at the Snell’s residence I rented.
This occurred when the West Milford police responded to a phone call emanating from Brant Snell and arrived outside my apartment. I had also called them simultaneously because Brant Snell and his brother were threatening me all day attempting to get me to leave my apartment; neither men filed legal eviction procedings agsainst me.
Sgt, Laughlin and co-conspiritors arrived on the scene proceding to cut my phone line at the Snell’s, then proceeding to threaten me outside my apartment. The police on the scene included red haired Sgt. Laughlin formerly beating my head against his squad car in West Milford NJ when taking custody of my two children from me giving custody to my ex husband, Andre Chapman.
All men involved i nthis incident malicously intended endangering my life, reputation and well being; they sucessed. They also succeeded causing irreparable and permanant emotional harm forever to my two children now adults; my son currently having a son of his own.
Both men, my ex-husband Andre Chapman along with former landlord Brant Snell admitted their guilt openly in Pompton Lakes Court before the presiding judge then.
Andre Chapman, my ex husband admitted committing this vile crime against me and my two children to gain continunal custody rights over my two children at that time, and, Brant Snell for wanting to evict me from my apartment because I would not have sex with him when I was a student at that time when I rented from him. And, owing to my police report I filed stating the truth: that he illegally entered my upstairs apartment from his house attempting on numerous occasion to have sexual relations with me and abuse me against my will through intimidation. Brant Snell also refused to allow me to lock my upstairs apartment and entered at his own will for several nights.
Harry Shortway told me he strongly suspected Brant Snell and his friend from Vernon NJ having to do with the Vernon New Jersey rapist/murders that occured at, Waywayanda State Park in West Milford NJ. Harry Shortway asked me to see what evidence I could get to him against Snell from my apartment leading up to his attic. I did and it was very suspicous. Snell kept old newspaper clippings of the rapes and murders etc.. Shortway never arrested either man. SNell’s friend even told me he was up at the Waywaynda Park harrassing women at that time.
The judge fined my ex husband, warning both men and Kridel himself.
The NJ State Attorney General then, completely ignored my complaints afterwhich. I drove to Fort Dix Military Base complaining to the internal affairs officer who told me that Harry Shortway was affiliated with too powerful an organization for him to do anyting to help me.
The Kridel lawfirm was allowed to continue practicing their so-called “law” in the state of NJ.
More to Come on them but I was slandered forever and my reputation ruined because my ex husband had told Kridel lawfirm that “My Wife Jill Starr has a gun and she will use it.”

VERNON — Three Republicans and two Independents will compete for three seats on the Vernon Township Committee in Tuesday’s election.
Republicans Harry Shortway and Michael Pier are running together to compete with Independent candidate Mary Ellen Vichiconti to fill two four-year terms on the committee. Mayor Austin Carew is not seeking re-election and Gary Grey’s tenure as Neil Desmond’s replacement on the committee will end this year.
Republican Craig Benda will face off against Independent Sally Rinker to fill the remaining two years of Glenn McLaughlin’s term. McLaughlin resigned from the committee earlier this year. Paul Emilius was appointed earlier this year to fill McLaughlin’s seat until a court decision ruled the appointment null and void.
Candidates Craig Benda and Michael Pier did not return messages requesting interviews.
“Trust in the government is the big issue facing Vernon,” said Shortway, 51, who has lived in Vernon for 17 years. “Once you get faith and trust and work with the people, things will fall into place.”
If elected to the committee, Shortway said his goals will be to control taxes and spend the township’s money more efficiently.
Shortway said as a committee member he would think outside the box for ideas to deal with the issues facing Vernon.
Shortway is a retired police officer who teaches history at Jefferson Township. He and wife Cherie have four children.
He said his previous experience as a vice president and president of the Police Benevolent Association, along with dealing with federal agencies, prepared him to deal with the bureaucracies of politics.
“You can’t be on the sidelines complaining. You’ve got to get into the game,” he said. “I want to get into the game.”
Shortway said he believes Vernon is a great place to live, work and play because of the residents who live there and the beauty that surrounds it. “We stay in Vernon because it’s simply beautiful,” he said. “But above all else it’s always been the people.”
Mary Ellen Vichiconti also has lived in Vernon for 17 years.
An Independent candidate, she said does not feel the current council is representing the average Vernon resident.
“I attend most of the council meetings and I do not like what has been going on in terms of representation for the average Vernon resident,” Vichiconti said. “We expect responsible and competent government for our town, which is basically a middle class community filled with hard-working residents and seniors.”
Vichiconti said her history of challenging council decisions regarding everything from the budget to COAH obligations makes her a good candidate for the council position.
Vichiconti, 57, is a special education teacher and lives in Lake Wanda. She and husband, Steven, have two children.
Her community involvement includes the Lake Wanda Property Owners Association, Girl Scouts, the Vernon Taxpayers Association, Harvest House, the Salvation Army and the Skylands League of Women Voters.
“I have no ax to grind,” she said. “I just have a vision of town where people get along better and where we can all come to the table and find some common ground.”
Sally Rinker lost to Pier in the primary as a Republican and decided to run as an Independent for McLaughlin’s seat after Craig Benda was chosen by the Republican Committee to vie for the spot.
“I am deeply concerned about our community,” Rinker said. “I strongly believe we are at a crossroads with the ever increasing need for a commercial tax base to offset the tax burden on our residents.”
There must be fiscal responsibility and a halt to unnecessary spending, she added. “We need leadership willing to work to turn the wheels in the right direction.”
Rinker, 54, said her experience with planning, budgeting, management and short- and long-term goal setting she has gained while owning her own construction company in Vernon for 25 years will offer a much needed set of skills to the council.
She added her experience with various state agencies, including the departments of transportation and environmental protection and the Council on Affordable Housing, along with a variety of local and county agencies, gives her a leg up over her competition.
he biggest challenges facing Vernon, she said, are “Taxes. Taxes. Taxes.”
She said Vernon is faced with the same challenges as every other municipality in the current economy. “This is the time for us to be the most frugal, to be choosy about the way we spend money.”
“I consider myself one of the luckiest persons to live and work in such a beautiful environment,” Rinker said. “Why not be able to have the perfect balance between wanting to live here and being able to afford to live here?”

No attorney took my case saying I was up against too powerful organizations. I even went to Fort Dix NJ and told the head of the "internal affairs investigation department" at Fort Dix, he merely ignored me.

Detective Shortway set me up to be murdered once already by placing an ad in the local paper saying he was leaving on vacation etc.etc... it is too complicated to go into here and now. I was looking for a new place to rent with my family at the time. On a voice changing machine (as my children can attest to) he gave me directions to a house to look at towards the end of all this ordeal with him. Later I found out the directions where I told my family I was going to look at the rental were over 20 miles in another direction and no one wold have ever found me again.
This is my take on this and I am usually correct. Sorry for my spelling but this is extremely difficult for me to remember (agonizingly painful emotionally)
I am scared to death now not of anything emanating from my writing about Mladic, but of my present close proximity where I reside nearby to West Milford and its associated Detectives. I never feared being hurt because I am writing a book based on my experiences in Serbia and Montenegro. Yes I am fearful of retaliation of SHORTWAY AND HIS CRONIES !

Harry Shortway originally became angry with me because my ex husband threatened to turn him and his associates into internal affairs Mr. Sorchinski (alias Zoro in the West Milford Police Force of Internal Affairs up there then) for dealing cocaine in the Highcrest Lake area of West Milford.
Thereafter, the West Milford Police all of a sudden decided they would try me on about 10 traffic tickets. I was homeless then because they threw me out of my home, gave custody rights of my two children and assisted my ex husband in throwing ALL my property and clothing in the local garbage; even though the Paterson Domestic Violence Courts at that time gave me a court order to have the West Milford Police assist me and help me get my property out of the house I had lived in at Highcrest saftly. In any event, they (West Milford Courts) forced to come to the municipal building for the case.
My ex husband new about the cocaine dealing in conjunction with the West Milford Police department because he was living a Treetop Apartments during the time my family moved there when I met my ex husband back, and, when I attended Walter T Bergen School in Bloomingdale NJ as a young 13 year old girl. My husband was into drugs and bought cocaine from Shanahan a former West Milford Police Officer involved and thrown off the police force for cocaine dealing at Treetop Apartments.
My ex husband, ANdre Chapman told me he threatened Harry Shortway because he was jealous I thought he was ”cute” and Andre Chapman told me that Harry Shortway was involved in dealing drugs to my ex husband and his friends back at Treetop during those days when I was a yong girl.
The West Milford Prosecutor also used a court protected document i.e., my Passaic County Diagnostic Exam in the traffic violations case against me which he later dropped at once when I pointed out it made him in ”Contempt of Cort’ in the case for handling it and even for looking at that document which was only allowed for viewing by either myself or my attorneys in my custody case.

I originally requested the lawfirm be disbarred from practicing law in the state of New Jersey back when I was attending William Paterson College in New Jersey prior to 1997.
It is public information any national news media group in America can prove beyond any doubt, by merely asking for it at the local Pompton Lakes New Jersey Court Clerk:
1) James A. Kridel Esq., his lawfirm, the West Milford Prosecutor (at that time between 1991-1997), my former landlord from whom I rented an apartment from, Brant Snell, his brother (joint owner of Snell’s property in Bloomingdale NJ, along with Harry Shortway and the West Milford Police Force, committed bribery, conspired to commit extortion with malicious intent against me, and also committed physical acts of terroristic threats against me at the Snell’s residence I rented.
This occurred when the West Milford police responded to a phone call emanating from Brant Snell and arrived outside my apartment. I had also called them simultaneously because Brant Snell and his brother were threatening me all day attempting to get me to leave my apartment; neither men filed legal eviction procedings agsainst me.
Sgt, Laughlin and co-conspiritors arrived on the scene proceding to cut my phone line at the Snell’s, then proceeding to threaten me outside my apartment. The police on the scene included red haired Sgt. Laughlin formerly beating my head against his squad car in West Milford NJ when taking custody of my two children from me giving custody to my ex husband, Andre Chapman.
All men involved i nthis incident malicously intended endangering my life, reputation and well being; they sucessed. They also succeeded causing irreparable and permanant emotional harm forever to my two children now adults; my son currently having a son of his own.
Both men, my ex-husband Andre Chapman along with former landlord Brant Snell admitted their guilt openly in Pompton Lakes Court before the presiding judge then.
Andre Chapman, my ex husband admitted committing this vile crime against me and my two children to gain continunal custody rights over my two children at that time, and, Brant Snell for wanting to evict me from my apartment because I would not have sex with him when I was a student at that time when I rented from him. And, owing to my police report I filed stating the truth: that he illegally entered my upstairs apartment from his house attempting on numerous occasion to have sexual relations with me and abuse me against my will through intimidation. Brant Snell also refused to allow me to lock my upstairs apartment and entered at his own will for several nights.
Harry Shortway told me he strongly suspected Brant Snell and his friend from Vernon NJ having to do with the Vernon New Jersey rapist/murders that occured at, Waywayanda State Park in West Milford NJ. Harry Shortway asked me to see what evidence I could get to him against Snell from my apartment leading up to his attic. I did and it was very suspicous. Snell kept old newspaper clippings of the rapes and murders etc.. Shortway never arrested either man. SNell’s friend even told me he was up at the Waywaynda Park harrassing women at that time.
The judge fined my ex husband, warning both men and Kridel himself.
The NJ State Attorney General then, completely ignored my complaints afterwhich. I drove to Fort Dix Military Base complaining to the internal affairs officer who told me that Harry Shortway was affiliated with too powerful an organization for him to do anyting to help me.
The Kridel lawfirm was allowed to continue practicing their so-called “law” in the state of NJ.
More to Come on them but I was slandered forever and my reputation ruined because my ex husband had told Kridel lawfirm that “My Wife Jill Starr has a gun and she will use it.”
I never did and it was a lie!
And they wanted to either kill me and/or prove I was too unstable mentally to stand before the Int’l Criminal Court for Serbia (?)

And, I often admit wondering in the post 1999 Kosovo environment when and if: Bill Clinton will send NATO to the west Milford and/or Bloomingdale NJ Municipal Buildings for committing egregious violations of human rights and genocide against Jews, blacks and Russians in the State of NJ and in Passaic County in general.
Soon after Harry Shortway , West Milford Detective) placed an add in the local newspaper attempting to meet me and kill me as stated in my blog. William Sorchinki came and picked me up in his undercover police car in Pompton Lakes NJ and brought me to an undercover federal warehouse filled with federal agents in Pompton Lakes NJ USA for questioning on the matter. Sorchinski confirmed in this federal meeting (I can show anyone where this secret federal warehouse is in Pompton Lakes NJ), he told me under no uncertain terms because of my relationship with Detective Harry Shortway my life was in danger and I was to have no further contact with Harry who told me himself he may end up in jail over this entire incident. My two children are witnesses to this matter of fact.

His military uniform was clean, ironed and he wore every military metal ever earned it seemed to me. He had many gold colored metals hanging from his uniform on the left side by his chest. I was privileged to see him this way; I confess being impressed.
I was surprised to say the very least. Darko said to stand next to Mladic insisting on snapping some photos of the two of us. Mladic placed his arm around my shoulder and I his; we both smiled as Darko snapped some photos. When finished Mladic presented me with a gift. The book I posted online for you all to view, signing it to me under the alias name, Sharko thanking me for beautiful times spent together in Beograd. He was so sweet and respectful to me, an American citizen. We embraced and he left as Darko interjected saying we had to hurry to the airport before I miss my flight. "

By now I am sure you heard about the horrible actions of University of Oregonsenior RB LeGarrette Blount, who was suspended for the 2009 regular and post season for his punch to the face of Boise Statesophomore DE Byron Hout last Thursday night after the no. 19 ranked Oregon Ducks lost their first game of the season to the no.14 ranked Boise State Broncos. Blount was a highly touted prospect for the 2010 NFL draft. His height, weight, speed numbers were that of a player the NFL considered to be very good at what he does, or otherwise said to be excellent. Blount obviously committed a vicious act for which he will be forever tied to, and may have cost himself millions of dollars in the upcoming 2010 draft.
How does this affect his position in the 2010 NFL draft? After conversing with many scouts throughout the NFL, many believe that while Blount may have acted too aggressively, but he should not be considered a lost cause as a football talent or as a person. There are many scouts and executives who will see his actions as deplorable, but that will not be enough to deter some from taking a chance on considering him as a viable NFL prospect.
Blount was considered to be a low first-round or high second-round pick. There are some who will read this blog and think that he probably doesn’t have a chance to be drafted at all. I would challenge that though process. His pre-season assessment alone (first-round or second-round draft choice) will probably garner him the opportunity to receive an invitation to the 2010 NFL Combine in February. The only reason he will not be invited to the NFL Combine is if there is some type of public outcry and disapproval for him attending the Combine based on his actions last week.
By the time the NFL Combine comes around, most of what he did will be an after though, as long as Blount has shown sincere remorse. I don’t want Blount or anyone else to think he has a free pass to make it to the NFL. He has already dropped to at least a second day draft selection for his actions, and even more so for the simple fact he will not play anymore during the 2009 season due to his suspension by the Oregon Ducks.
There is a lot of growth for society, in general, during the collegiate years of life and Blount is no different. He made a huge mistake and should be punished accordingly. However, I only hope that he is not “thrown away” and considered another stereotypical football player who had everything in front of him and blew it all because he could not control his anger at the time.
In a recent text with San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree’s adviser, David Wells, I asked when would we be seeing the announced signing of Crabtree to the 49ers. His response was, “Soo[n]”.
Training camp and preseason are over, and the regular season is now upon us. We start with a clean slate. No one cares what happened in preseason and definitely not what any player did in college. After conversing with many former NFL “greats” who played with my dad during his time in the NFL, they all agree that the ONLY person who is being hurt by the hold out is Crabtree. I whole heartedly agree. Not the 49ers. Not the sports agent. Not David Wells. Not he 49ers. Not the fans. Plain and simple; Crabtree is doing himself a disservice.
Crabtree and his camp may feel as though he is a better player than any and/or all of the other nine picks ahead of him and should be paid accordingly based on what he did in college. It may even prove to be true in time that he is better than all of them. For now, he is just another player who was drafted in the no. 10 spot of the 2009 NFL Draft and will command the money paid for that spot.
Words of advice to Crabtree and his camp of advisers, “Get over it!”
Crabtree has not practiced with the team since Organized Team Activity (OTA) that ended this past June. He has no value to the team at this time and is not going to come in and make an immediate impact on the field. The team will request a two week roster exemption for him and he will sit on the bench for those two weeks.
The person I feel most for is the player who busted his ^$# during training camp only to be told when Crabtree is then activated, his services are no longer needed.
Now how is that for a fair system of rewarding hard work? If the 49ers wanted to truly do the right thing, they will place the player’s contract that they plan on terminating on the Reserve/Injured (R01) list at least continuing to pay him for the remainder of the season.
I am in the process of finding out a topic for a anthropology dissertation , more specifically in forensic anthropology. Although I am quite sure what I want to do, I am interested in having views of others in the fields, and where they think research is lacking. With a bit of luck, my ideas will be amongst the areas suggested!
I am particularly interested in your thoughts on the fields of forensic anthropology, bioarchaeology, and human osteology to write my social anthropology dissertation. Not so much paleoanthropology (unless it is about AMHs, and then perhaps it might be of use).
As for the research on sexing/ageing...I do think it is imperative to keep trying out the methods and finding methods for isolated bones. This can help keep the methods fresh and constantly make improvements to them. Also, the isolated bone methods can be of use in trying to recognize unidentified remains or help un-mix commingled remains.
That being said, I still don't really want to do that for a dissertation topic. Like you said, not very original.
That is why I am trying to see if others have noticed areas missing needed information. I have been doing literature reviews (especially Journal of Forensic Sciences and American Journal of Physical Anthro. to find topics I feel need more information, but sometimes others see things that a person can miss on their own.

Often times dissertations are based on improvements to or gaps in research already conducted. While it may get your degree, this is safe...and boring. Unfortunately, a lot of the research that can be conducted in forensic anthropology is this sort of improvement-based research. I've read numerous papers, theses, etc. on new (and obscure) ways to age, sex, etc. a skeleton. This stuff can already be done. I don’t care if the sphenoid can be used in age determination (which I don't think it can, but you get the point).
I suggest that you sit down, pretend that you are a child and ponder the mysteries of the field. Find something that's hardly been touched...or think of new ways to interpret things. My adviser once told me that what he likes most about new students is that they haven't been corrupted by the field. If you can find a topic that you're really passionate about it will make the research so much easier. I'd like more research on various indigenous agricultural technologies, including Egyptian use of the Nile River delta and examples of relatively high standards of living which complemented the natural world.
Also, I would like more emphasis in proper representation of the physical features of ancient civilizations. For example, no more white Egyptians or white Jesus.
Finally, I am interested in variable diets of indigenous people and the effects of such diets on their physical bodies... for example, did some people have better eyesight than others? or did some people have fewer diseases than others?... all of which relating to diet, of course. I hope this will help in writing anthropology dissertations.

It is an extremely important legal case I am submitting to the Hague Court in the
Netherlands as an individual complainant from here in the United States of America. I hope it will set an international precedent even in America people are abused by their own public elected government officials.
I am fully convinced now, that after a decade of asking the American legal governmental authorities (local, state and federal levels) to arrest and try, Detective Harry Shortway, and his corrupt law enforcement associte, Sgt. Laughlin, in a court of law in America for attempting to murder me; moreover physically and emotionally torturing me and my family in 1990/1991,
it is clear,
the United States of America is either unwilling OR incapable of taking the bold moral measures to arrest Harry Shortway and his associates; ensurng he receives a fair trial here in America. Similarly to American diplomats such as, Hillary Clinton, ironally accusing Serbia of not submitting General Mladic to the Hague ICTY, for trial.

This makes a mockery of genuine human rights insofar in America. Equally,

I was looking for a new place to rent with my family at the time. It is an extremely important legal case I am submitting to the Hague Court in the
Netherlands as an individual complainant from here in the United States of America. I hope it will set an international precedent even in America people are abused by their own public elected government officials.

MOISTURE IN CONCRETE SLABS POU MOISTURE IN CONCRETE SLABS POURED ON GRADE IN ARIZONA
You bought a new home, ordered your options and moved in. A year or two go by and you start rearranging the furniture. That’s when you noticed the odor. You lifted the protective mat under your desk chair and the smell made your eyes water or maybe you smelled it when you opened a closet door or an unvented room. Did you order a light colored vinyl flooring for your kitchen but now the floor has a darker color coming through? Maybe it has a grey or green tint, maybe it has a purple or orange hue or maybe it has bubbled or lifted off of the floor.
These problems and many others are caused by moisture vapor coming up through the concrete slab. This condition is occurring more frequently here in the Phoenix area and there are a few factors that contribute to the problem. Before we cover those factors, lets look at the problem a little closer.
The Issues
Moisture vapor coming up through a slab can cause wood floors to warp, delaminate swell and promotes mold growth. The moisture can cause the mastic that holds tile to the floor to fail, this leads to the floor tiles sounding hollow and lifting off the floor. The vapor frequently passes through carpet and other floorings unless there is some type of vapor barrier. Vinyl flooring creates a barrier by itself, other examples of barriers could be a chair mat, floor runners with a non-slip backing or anything else that prevents the moisture from escaping. The bottom line is, if moisture can’t pass through the flooring, then it is trapped under the flooring. That leads to the next question, where does the moisture come from?
The Source
The moisture typically comes from two sources. The water in the concrete mix slowly dries by traveling to the top of the slab and evaporating. This process can take six months to completely dry a properly placed slab. The other source of moisture is from the soil beneath the slab. Moisture evaporates and once concrete is placed on the ground, the evaporation of moisture in the soil is severely restricted. The moisture in the ground is rarely viewed, discussed or even considered an issue during construction since the slab is still in the drying process and there is not a large temperature difference above and below the concrete. However, this changes once the home is completed. Now the air inside the home is conditioned and the temperature change and pressure change along with the difference in relative humidity between the air above the slab and the soil beneath the slab causes a vapor pressure difference. Simply put, moisture travels from heat to cool. The moisture under the slab is drawn to the cool, dry, air conditioned concrete slab. Concrete is porous, it is not water proof and the moisture vapor rises to and passes through the slab by capillary action and vapor diffusion.
The Cause
Moisture under a slab wasn’t an issue in the desert a few years ago, but today is a different story. Today’s construction techniques are a little different, contractors are flooding building pads to address issues with the soil like compaction and expansiveness. Homes are also being constructed on properties that used to be agricultural land. This land may have been a dairy or a farm field that used to be irrigated frequently. Soils tests are commonly performed before the land is developed. Recently these soils tests results indicate moisture levels of 20% to 50% in the soil anywhere from two to 10 feet down. (it is rare that soil samples are taken below 10 feet deep) It takes a long time for moisture to rise to the top of a concrete slab from 10 feet down, maybe even years.
Sometimes the grading and drainage of the property directs moisture into the soil below the foundation. This, in effect, can recharge the moisture source under the slab. There is also the possibility of an underground plumbing leak or the landscape system adding moisture to the soil under the slab. However, homes are built on moist soils all over the world, why do we have a moisture problem in the desert?
Construction Issues
The moisture is drawn up to and through the slab by capillary action, vapor diffusion and evaporation. The quickest way to prevent the moisture from migrating through the slab is to stop these actions from occurring.
One of the things that need to change is the aggregate base course (ABC) that is being used in the desert. Currently the ABC is a sand/stone mixture, however sand promotes the capillary action and therefore makes a poor choice as ABC in an area where there is an elevated moisture content in the subsoils. Using a stone as ABC would help eliminate the capillary action.
Another way to reduce the moisture is to provide adequate grading and drainage. This should include controlling roof drainage and diverting it at least 8 feet away from the foundation. The landscaping plumbing and control valves should also be located several feet away from the foundation as the control valves have a tendency to leak and the further away that moisture is from the foundation, the less impact it will have on the foundation.
The most effective way to control the moisture is with a vapor barrier. This is a thin plastic sheet placed on top of the ABC before the concrete is poured. Previous construction practices would place the vapor barrier below the ABC or place a thin layer of sand on top of the vapor barrier so that moisture could escape through the top and bottom of the slab, however the moisture still migrates up through the slab. Placing the barrier below the sand or ABC creates a reservoir for the water that drains from the wet concrete and capillary action prevents moisture from draining by gravity through the sand.
It may interest you to know that a vapor retarder is required by the International Residential Code (IRC) in section 506.2.3, however, it may be omitted if the local building official approves the omission due to local site conditions. So how is the issue corrected?
Correcting the Issue
The best way to get rid of the moisture in the slab is to prevent it from getting there in the first place. Check the moisture content of the soil, use ABC that is ½ inch or larger and install a vapor barrier above the ABC and below the concrete. If the home is already built and you own it then you need the help of professionals.
Have a calcium chloride test performed on the floor slab to determine the rate of vapor transmission through the slab. If floor coverings are present they will need to be removed before and during the testing. Testing commonly takes 24 to 60 hours. There are many different flooring companies that can perform this test for you, or contact the engineer you want to assist you with this project.
Check for moisture sources around the home including grading, drainage, irrigation, roof downspouts, and swimming pools. Have the supply and the waste plumbing checked for leaks. If you still have not corrected the issue, then consult with professionals. Expect them to core through the slab and determine if a vapor barrier is present and investigate the conditions of the soil and ABC under the slab.
Methods of repair are limited and should be considered fully before proceeding. The slab surface can be sealed. This will reduce or even stop the vapor transmission temporarily. A good sealer may last ten years, inexpensive sealers may not last a year. Before sealing, all floor coverings and furnishings will need to be removed from the slab. There are other methods of venting or draining the slab that are available, some involve forcing air under the slab or drawing air from under the slab. Another method is to install a drainage system that gets the moisture away from the slab. All of these repairs should be reviewed by an engineer before they are implemented, and the work should be performed by a contractor experienced in this area.

We both drove to Washington DC together to meet with Republican Senator, Tim Nicholson. Darko spent the night at his house and I in a hotel room on the Beltway. We had brought with us tons of secret information on Al Qaeda operatives with us for this visit but Darko left it all with me in my room and Senator Nicholson did not view it.

During the time when I was complaining about constant gas leaks in my home, a bunch of Bloomingdale, NJ policemen came over about 7PM at night to investigate before the major fire at my house.
They threatened me that if I call anyone about a gas leak again, they’d take me to the local mental hospital and told me I could not leave the house that night OR they would force me into a metnal hospital (Chilton in Pompton Plains NJ USA)
While one officer told me I could not go out or call the police anymore that night, one officer sneaked over to my oven in my kitchen and turned it up on high like he was trying to start a fire while I was complaining about my gas leaks!
I have over 35 reports of gas leask verified from my local gas company at PSE & G to prove this.
I allege the Bloomingdale and West Mmilford NJ USA Police are complicit in attempting to murder because me owing to my eye witness testimony to the 2001 International Criminal Court Preparatory meetings at the United Nations in NYC in 2001 and its association with the Radovan Karadzic trial at the ICTY in the Netherlands and international witness tampering.

Dear Friends: I have told this factual autobiographical account prior. However, this was during the height of NATO’s illegal war launched against Jugoslavija so I am unsure if this e-mail ever reached the entire audience for which it was intended. Hence, I am re-sending a brief account of whereby one United States University in New York City assisted Bill Clinton and Tony Blair in plotting, orchestrating, launching and perpetuating Albanian-KLA Nationalism and ethnic genocide directed against the Orthodox Christian Serbs in Kosovo. (See Attachment for formal proof).
I. It was in the Fall of 1997, my first semester in graduate school at the New School for Social Research when I noticed the bulletin on the wall that announced the Albanian Pro-KLA Nationalist Fatmos Ljubonia was going to give a lecture on Albanian Nationalism at the New School for Social Research in NYC (5th and 14th Streets in Wolffe Conference Room 2nd floor). This lecture was undoubtedly funded by the USIP and the WPI (the World Policy Institute resides on the fourth floor of the schools location).
II. Evidently, this particular lecture sparked my interest like none other owing to my serious commitment in following the various political & international trends regarding the Kosovo / Serbia & Bosnia wars and what would occur next. Therefore I made it my business to sit in on this lecture.
III. At that time, primarily the students attending this lecture and (it was a full house) were from parts of the world (like Asia) who knew nothing about Serbia and Kosovo. So they were very interested to hear what Fatmos Ljubonia had to say about the plight of the ethnic Albanians in Kosovo. There were only two graduate students who really knew what was going on in Kosovo at that time between the Albanians and the Serbs. (me and this Albanian student). I sat in for about 1 and 1/2 hours taking notes and listening. Then I left. Here is a short and brief description of the lecture.
IV. Primarily Fatmos at first attempted to elicit as much sympathy as humanly possible from the New School graduate students. He began the lecture by explaining that the Serbian government had imprisoned him for 20 years. and treated him in an inhumane manner. He did not explain why to us.
V. He quickly then shifted (to be blunt)–he spent the rest of his lecture lying to the (students) about the current situation in Kosovo. He supplied lies as answers to the students questions about Serbia, Albania and Kosovo and Fatmos completely bad-mouthed the Serbian government blaming it, for myriad human right violations not only committed against him (as he claimed) but also against him all ethnic Albanians in Kosovo.
VI. He completely this question and answer session quite pleased with himself since most of my classmates later indicated to me that they were shocked to hear about the conditions under which Fatmos claimed the ethnic Albanians were living under in Kosovo. I knew the man was a filthy liar but I could not say anything at the time. So he lied lied and he lied more!
VI. As I said I left early but I will never forget his phrase stating: “I, Fatmos Ljubonia, have come to the New School for Social Research to ask you, The New School students, to give me, Fatmos Ljubonia, new creative nationalist ideas to PROMOTE AND TO CONSTRUCT A GREATER ALBANIA!”
VII. Now there were a hell of a lot of New School faculty members also present who knew the truth about what really was going on between Serbia, the Western liberal think tanks at the New School for Social Research and their king, Bill Clinton regarding Kosovo. However, evidently these were the same political science professors such as David PLotke who later tossed me out of graduate school only three weeks prior my anticipated MA graduation date on April 22 1999 at knife point (we all know about my Civil Rights Case against the school
#02-99-2132.
VIII. I, Jill Starr have always stood up for the right political and social group, the Serbs of course. For it was not the Serbian authorities fault that NATO members and their corrupted politicians with a guilty as hell mens rea instigated and escalated the present ethnic contentions and genocide now occurring in Kosovo today!
XV. For this reason it does not surprise me that the semester before I was tossed out of school by POL SCI DEPT. CHAIR David Plotke, during my classes with the renown Robert Latham (from the SSRC in NYC) no one did anything when my Albanian classmate stated in front of many UN Diplomats that he 100% promoted “ethnic genocide against the Orthodox Christian Serbs in Kosovo!” Of course I reported the incident to both my human rights professor Adamantia Polllis and also the Dept. Chair David Plotke, yet neither of them did a damn thing!
What they did do is allow my Albanian classmate to continue going to school and graduate while they decided to throw me out of school and ruin my life to the best of their corrupt abilities!
X. The Albanian classmate of mine even said to me in front of Robert Latham’s entire class (FALL 1998) this to me when I said I’d like to see a copy of his paper which he said is written to promote ethnic genocide against Orthodox Christian Serbs in Kosovo this— />”Jill, you will surely die before you ever see my term paper!” The New School faculty threw me out and kept the genocidal Albanian on April 22 1999! PS: I’d like to give some lectures describing this experience in America to my friends in Serbia. David PLotke even came towards me with a swiss army knife!

The Definition of a 'war crime' is an entire bloc (gang) of NATO United Nations Member States lying about Serbian 'war crimes' holding the country back, and its citizenry, from future generations having a better standard of living and basic human needs, by using economic sanctions, EU threats etc. to cover up their own political crimes; also against Republika Srpska too.
The ICTY has given NO media coverage to this matter of fact. The ICTY only covers alleged crimes that they claim are committed by "Serbs" against Muslims.

It was in this emergency snow storm in the late 1990s when I was attending William Paterson College in Wayne NJ I was living where this photo was taken on the corners of Route 23 North & Oak Ridge Road in West Milford NJ USA. This was taken on the corner stated where George Struss owns a car lot and rents small apartments.It was during this state of emergency snow storm I had walked out of my apartment next to the bagel store in merely a dress and sweater because the bagel store was right next store to me. It was like walking out my front door into my neighborss but I had made a terrible mistake.
I had also placed my house keys and entire key ring in my car to warm it up but I had accidentally locked all my keys into my locked running black car as seen.
I also was locked out of my house in this storm.
I walked next store to the bagel store to call the West Milford police to help me jimmy my car door open so I could recover my keys and get into both my apartment and car safely.
The police came and saw my condition freezing and barely dressed in this storm in which the State of NJ was declared in a “state of emergency.”
The West Milford police said they would not belp me and left me freezing in the storm half dead.
Someone finally got me help

I originally requested the lawfirm be disbarred from practicing law in the state of New Jersey back when I was attending William Paterson College in New Jersey prior to 1997.
It is public information any national news media group in America can prove beyond any doubt, by merely asking for it at the local Pompton Lakes New Jersey Court Clerk:
1) James A. Kridel Esq., his lawfirm, the West Milford Prosecutor (at that time between 1991-1997), my former landlord from whom I rented an apartment from, Brant Snell, his brother (joint owner of Snell’s property in Bloomingdale NJ, along with Harry Shortway and the West Milford Police Force, committed bribery, conspired to commit extortion with malicious intent against me, and also committed physical acts of terroristic threats against me at the Snell’s residence I rented.
This occurred when the West Milford police responded to a phone call emanating from Brant Snell and arrived outside my apartment. I had also called them simultaneously because Brant Snell and his brother were threatening me all day attempting to get me to leave my apartment; neither men filed legal eviction procedings agsainst me.
Sgt, Laughlin and co-conspiritors arrived on the scene proceding to cut my phone line at the Snell’s, then proceeding to threaten me outside my apartment. The police on the scene included red haired Sgt. Laughlin formerly beating my head against his squad car in West Milford NJ when taking custody of my two children from me giving custody to my ex husband, Andre Chapman.
All men involved i nthis incident malicously intended endangering my life, reputation and well being; they sucessed. They also succeeded causing irreparable and permanant emotional harm forever to my two children now adults; my son currently having a son of his own.
Both men, my ex-husband Andre Chapman along with former landlord Brant Snell admitted their guilt openly in Pompton Lakes Court before the presiding judge then.
Andre Chapman, my ex husband admitted committing this vile crime against me and my two children to gain continunal custody rights over my two children at that time, and, Brant Snell for wanting to evict me from my apartment because I would not have sex with him when I was a student at that time when I rented from him. And, owing to my police report I filed stating the truth: that he illegally entered my upstairs apartment from his house attempting on numerous occasion to have sexual relations with me and abuse me against my will through intimidation. Brant Snell also refused to allow me to lock my upstairs apartment and entered at his own will for several nights.

The NJ State Attorney General then, completely ignored my complaints afterwhich. I drove to Fort Dix Military Base complaining to the internal affairs officer who told me that Harry Shortway was affiliated with too powerful an organization for him to do anyting to help me.
The Kridel lawfirm was allowed to continue practicing their so-called “law” in the state of NJ.

NJ Detective Harry Shortway Junior Dares Making A Run For Political Office in Vernon NJ

VERNON — Three Republicans and two Independents will compete for three seats on the Vernon Township Committee in Tuesday’s election.
Republicans Harry Shortway and Michael Pier are running together to compete with Independent candidate Mary Ellen Vichiconti to fill two four-year terms on the committee. Mayor Austin Carew is not seeking re-election and Gary Grey’s tenure as Neil Desmond’s replacement on the committee will end this year.
Republican Craig Benda will face off against Independent Sally Rinker to fill the remaining two years of Glenn McLaughlin’s term. McLaughlin resigned from the committee earlier this year. Paul Emilius was appointed earlier this year to fill McLaughlin’s seat until a court decision ruled the appointment null and void.
Candidates Craig Benda and Michael Pier did not return messages requesting interviews.
“Trust in the government is the big issue facing Vernon,” said Shortway, 51, who has lived in Vernon for 17 years. “Once you get faith and trust and work with the people, things will fall into place.”
If elected to the committee, Shortway said his goals will be to control taxes and spend the township’s money more efficiently.
Shortway said as a committee member he would think outside the box for ideas to deal with the issues facing Vernon.
Shortway is a retired police officer who teaches history at Jefferson Township. He and wife Cherie have four children.
He said his previous experience as a vice president and president of the Police Benevolent Association, along with dealing with federal agencies, prepared him to deal with the bureaucracies of politics.
“You can’t be on the sidelines complaining. You’ve got to get into the game,” he said. “I want to get into the game.”
Shortway said he believes Vernon is a great place to live, work and play because of the residents who live there and the beauty that surrounds it. “We stay in Vernon because it’s simply beautiful,” he said. “But above all else it’s always been the people.”
Mary Ellen Vichiconti also has lived in Vernon for 17 years.
An Independent candidate, she said does not feel the current council is representing the average Vernon resident.
“I attend most of the council meetings and I do not like what has been going on in terms of representation for the average Vernon resident,” Vichiconti said. “We expect responsible and competent government for our town, which is basically a middle class community filled with hard-working residents and seniors.”
Vichiconti said her history of challenging council decisions regarding everything from the budget to COAH obligations makes her a good candidate for the council position.
Vichiconti, 57, is a special education teacher and lives in Lake Wanda. She and husband, Steven, have two children.
Her community involvement includes the Lake Wanda Property Owners Association, Girl Scouts, the Vernon Taxpayers Association, Harvest House, the Salvation Army and the Skylands League of Women Voters.
“I have no ax to grind,” she said. “I just have a vision of town where people get along better and where we can all come to the table and find some common ground.”
Sally Rinker lost to Pier in the primary as a Republican and decided to run as an Independent for McLaughlin’s seat after Craig Benda was chosen by the Republican Committee to vie for the spot.
“I am deeply concerned about our community,” Rinker said. “I strongly believe we are at a crossroads with the ever increasing need for a commercial tax base to offset the tax burden on our residents.”
There must be fiscal responsibility and a halt to unnecessary spending, she added.
“We need leadership willing to work to turn the wheels in the right direction.”
Rinker, 54, said her experience with planning, budgeting, management and short- and long-term goal setting she has gained while owning her own construction company in
Vernon for 25 years will offer a much needed set of skills to the council.
She added her experience with various state agencies, including the departments of transportation and environmental protection and the Council on Affordable Housing, along with a variety of local and county agencies, gives her a leg up over her competition.
he biggest challenges facing Vernon, she said, are “Taxes. Taxes. Taxes.”
She said Vernon is faced with the same challenges as every other municipality in the current economy. “This is the time for us to be the most frugal, to be choosy about the way we spend money.”
“I consider myself one of the luckiest persons to live and work in such a beautiful environment,” Rinker said. “Why not be able to have the perfect balance between wanting to live here and being able to afford to live here?”

No attorney took my case saying I was up against too powerful organizations. I even
went to Fort Dix NJ and told the head of the "internal affairs investigation department" at Fort Dix, he merely ignored me.

My ex husband new about the cocaine dealing in conjunction with the West Milford Police department because he was living a Treetop Apartments during the time my family moved there when I met my ex husband back, and, when I attended Walter T Bergen School in Bloomingdale NJ as a young 13 year old girl. My husband was into drugs and bought cocaine from Shanahan a former West Milford Police Officer involved and thrown off the police force for cocaine dealing at Treetop Apartments.
My ex husband, ANdre Chapman told me he threatened Harry Shortway because he was jealous I thought he was ”cute” and Andre Chapman told me that Harry Shortway was involved in dealing drugs to my ex husband and his friends back at Treetop during those days when I was a yong girl.
The West Milford Prosecutor also used a court protected document i.e., my Passaic County Diagnostic Exam in the traffic violations case against me which he later dropped at once when I pointed out it made him in ”Contempt of Cort’ in the case for handling it and even for looking at that document which was only allowed for viewing by either myself or my attorneys in my custody case.

I originally requested the lawfirm be disbarred from practicing law in the state of New Jersey back when I was attending William Paterson College in New Jersey prior to 1997.

1) James A. Kridel Esq., his lawfirm, the West Milford Prosecutor (at that time between 1991-1997), my former landlord from whom I rented an apartment from, Brant Snell, his brother (joint owner of Snell’s property in Bloomingdale NJ, along with Harry Shortway and the West Milford Police Force, committed bribery, conspired to commit extortion with malicious intent against me, and also committed physical acts of terroristic threats against me at the Snell’s residence I rented.
This occurred when the West Milford police responded to a phone call emanating from Brant Snell and arrived outside my apartment. I had also called them simultaneously because Brant Snell and his brother were threatening me all day attempting to get me to leave my apartment; neither men filed legal eviction procedings agsainst me.
Sgt, Laughlin and co-conspiritors arrived on the scene proceding to cut my phone line at the Snell’s, then proceeding to threaten me outside my apartment. The police on the scene included red haired Sgt. Laughlin formerly beating my head against his squad car in West Milford NJ when taking custody of my two children from me giving custody to my ex husband, Andre Chapman.
All men involved i nthis incident malicously intended endangering my life, reputation and well being; they sucessed. They also succeeded causing irreparable and permanant emotional harm forever to my two children now adults; my son currently having a son of his own.
Both men, my ex-husband Andre Chapman along with former landlord Brant Snell admitted their guilt openly in Pompton Lakes Court before the presiding judge then.
Andre Chapman, my ex husband admitted committing this vile crime against me and my two children to gain continunal custody rights over my two children at that time, and, Brant Snell for wanting to evict me from my apartment because I would not have sex with him when I was a student at that time when I rented from him. And, owing to my police report I filed stating the truth: that he illegally entered my upstairs apartment from his house attempting on numerous occasion to have sexual relations with me and abuse me against my will through intimidation. Brant Snell also refused to allow me to lock my upstairs apartment and entered at his own will for several nights.

"The next day I woke up around mid morning feeling depressed so I went for a walk to a local store picking up some things. Returning to Darko’s, we were standing outside his apartment discussing something when I turned seeing Mladic approaching me in full military regalia. We shook hands glad seeing each other. This legal technicality indicates the Hague must dismiss charges against Dr karadzic and
others awaiting trials in the Hague jail; like it or not.
Unfortunately for the Signatures Of the Rome Statute United Nations member states
instituting the ICC & ICTY housed at the Hague, insofar as the, Radovan Karadzic, as
with the other Hague cases awaiting trial there, I personally witnessed these United
Nations member states openly speaking about trading judicial appointments and verdicts
for financial funding when I attended the 2001 ICC Preparatory Meetings at the UN in
Manhattan making the iCTY and ICC morally incapable trying Radovan Karazdic and
others.
I witnessed with my own eyes and ears when attending the 2001 Preparatory Meetings to
establish an newly emergent International Criminal Court, the exact caliber of criminal
corruption running so very deeply at the Hague, that it was a perfectly viable topic of
legitimate conversation in those meetings I attended to debate trading verdicts AND
judicial appointments, for monetary funding.

from Spain for even bringing up this unjust, illegal and unfair judicial idea of bribery for
international judicial verdicts and judicial appointments, all country representatives
present in the meeting that day all treated the Spain proposition as a ”totally legitimate
topic” discussed and debated it between each other for some time. I was quite shocked!
The idea was "let's discuss it." "It's a great topic to discuss."
Some countries agreed with Spain’s propositions while others did not. The point here is,
bribery for judicial verdicts and judicial appointments was treated as a totally legitimate
topic instead of an illegitimate toic which it is in the meeting that I
attended in 2001 that day to establish the ground work for a newly emergent
international criminal court.))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
In particular., since "Spain" was so overtly unafraid in bringing up this topic of trading
financial funding the ICC for influence over its future judicial appointments and verdicts
in front of every other UN member state present that day at the UN, "Spain" must have
already known by previous experience the topic of bribery was "socially acceptable" for
conversation that day. They must have previously spoke about bribing the ICTY and ICC
before in meetings; this is my take an international sociological honor student.
SPAIN's diplomatic gesture of international justice insofar as, Serbia, in all of this is,
disgusting morally!
SPAIN HAS TAUGHT THE WORLD THE TRUE DEFINITION OF AN
"INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT."
I remind everyone, when I attended those ICC Preparatory Meetings in 2001, witnessing
first hand the country plenipotentiary representatives present with me discussing so
openly, trading judicial funding of a new international criminal court, for its direct
judicial appointments and judicial verdicts, those same state powers were
concurrently,
those same countries and people were already simultaneously, funding the already
established ICTY which was issuing at that time, arrest warrants for Bosnian Serbs
under false primary diplomatic pretenses.
The ICTY and ICC is just where it should be for once.
Cornered and backed into and an international wall, scared like a corned animal (and I
bet it reacts in the same way a rabid cornered animal does too in such circumstances).

I believe strongly that ICYU assocaites murdered former Serb President, Slobodan Milosevic, tried to murder
me, as well and other Serbs prisoners and presently places , Doctor Radovan Karadzic’s
life in direct danger as well as Ratko Mladic’s life in danger should he be brought there.
The ICTY has no other choice than to halt all further court proceedings against, Doctor
Radovan Karadzic, and others there both serving sentences and awaiting trials.

Blount Not Out Just Yet Blount Not Out Just Yet
By now I am sure you heard about the horrible actions of University of Oregon senior RB LeGarrette Blount, who was suspended for the 2009 regular and post season for his punch to the face of Boise State sophomore DE Byron Hout last Thursday night after the no. 19 ranked Oregon Ducks lost their first game of the season to the no.14 ranked Boise State Broncos. Blount was a highly touted prospect for the 2010 NFL draft. His height, weight, speed numbers were that of a player the NFL considered to be very good at what he does, or otherwise said to be excellent. Blount obviously committed a vicious act for which he will be forever tied to, and may have cost himself millions of dollars in the upcoming 2010 draft.
How does this affect his position in the 2010 NFL draft? After conversing with many scouts throughout the NFL, many believe that while Blount may have acted too aggressively, but he should not be considered a lost cause as a football talent or as a person. There are many scouts and executives who will see his actions as deplorable, but that will not be enough to deter some from taking a chance on considering him as a viable NFL prospect.
Blount was considered to be a low first-round or high second-round pick. There are some who will read this blog and think that he probably doesn’t have a chance to be drafted at all. I would challenge that though process. His pre-season assessment alone (first-round or second-round draft choice) will probably garner him the opportunity to receive an invitation to the 2010 NFL Combine in February. The only reason he will not be invited to the NFL Combine is if there is some type of public outcry and disapproval for him attending the Combine based on his actions last week.
By the time the NFL Combine comes around, most of what he did will be an after though, as long as Blount has shown sincere remorse. I don’t want Blount or anyone else to think he has a free pass to make it to the NFL. He has already dropped to at least a second day draft selection for his actions, and even more so for the simple fact he will not play anymore during the 2009 season due to his suspension by the Oregon Ducks.
There is a lot of growth for society, in general, during the collegiate years of life and Blount is no different. He made a huge mistake and should be punished accordingly. However, I only hope that he is not “thrown away” and considered another stereotypical football player who had everything in front of him and blew it all because he could not control his anger at the time.
Crabtree Update Crabtree Update
In a recent text with San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree’s adviser, David Wells, I asked when would we be seeing the announced signing of Crabtree to the 49ers. His response was, “Soo[n]”.
Training camp and preseason are over, and the regular season is now upon us. We start with a clean slate. No one cares what happened in preseason and definitely not what any player did in college. After conversing with many former NFL “greats” who played with my dad during his time in the NFL, they all agree that the ONLY person who is being hurt by the hold out is Crabtree. I whole heartedly agree. Not the 49ers. Not the sports agent. Not David Wells. Not he 49ers. Not the fans. Plain and simple; Crabtree is doing himself a disservice.
Crabtree and his camp may feel as though he is a better player than any and/or all of the other nine picks ahead of him and should be paid accordingly based on what he did in college. It may even prove to be true in time that he is better than all of them. For now, he is just another player who was drafted in the no. 10 spot of the 2009 NFL Draft and will command the money paid for that spot.
Words of advice to Crabtree and his camp of advisers, “Get over it!”
Crabtree has not practiced with the team since Organized Team Activity (OTA) that ended this past June. He has no value to the team at this time and is not going to come in and make an immediate impact on the field. The team will request a two week roster exemption for him and he will sit on the bench for those two weeks.
The person I feel most for is the player who busted his ^$# during training camp only to be told when Crabtree is then activated, his services are no longer needed.
Now how is that for a fair system of rewarding hard work? If the 49ers wanted to truly do the right thing, they will place the player’s contract that they plan on terminating on the Reserve/Injured (R01) list at least continuing to pay him for the remainder of the season.
Anthropology Dissertation: in Anthropology Dissertation: in which areas/topics would you like to see more research done?

I am in the process of finding out a topic for a anthropology dissertation , more specifically in forensic anthropology. Although I am quite sure what I want to do, I am interested in having views of others in the fields, and where they think research is lacking. With a bit of luck, my ideas will be amongst the areas suggested!
I am particularly interested in your thoughts on the fields of forensic anthropology, bioarchaeology, and human osteology to write my social anthropology dissertation. Not so much paleoanthropology (unless it is about AMHs, and then perhaps it might be of use).
As for the research on sexing/ageing...I do think it is imperative to keep trying out the methods and finding methods for isolated bones. This can help keep the methods fresh and constantly make improvements to them. Also, the isolated bone methods can be of use in trying to recognize unidentified remains or help un-mix commingled remains.
That being said, I still don't really want to do that for a dissertation topic. Like you said, not very original.
That is why I am trying to see if others have noticed areas missing needed information. I have been doing literature reviews (especially Journal of Forensic Sciences and American Journal of Physical Anthro. to find topics I feel need more information, but sometimes others see things that a person can miss on their own.
Do you have any specific areas that you've noticed?

Often times dissertations are based on improvements to or gaps in research already conducted. While it may get your degree, this is safe...and boring. Unfortunately, a lot of the research that can be conducted in forensic anthropology is this sort of improvement-based research. I've read numerous papers, theses, etc. on new (and obscure) ways to age, sex, etc. a skeleton. This stuff can already be done. I don’t care if the sphenoid can be used in age determination (which I don't think it can, but you get the point).
I suggest that you sit down, pretend that you are a child and ponder the mysteries of the field. Find something that's hardly been touched...or think of new ways to interpret things. My adviser once told me that what he likes most about new students is that they haven't been corrupted by the field. If you can find a topic that you're really passionate about it will make the research so much easier.
I'd like more research on various indigenous agricultural technologies, including Egyptian use of the Nile River delta and examples of relatively high standards of living which complemented the natural world.
Also, I would like more emphasis in proper representation of the physical features of ancient civilizations. For example, no more white Egyptians or white Jesus.
Finally, I am interested in variable diets of indigenous people and the effects of such diets on their physical bodies... for example, did some people have better eyesight than others? or did some people have fewer diseases than others?... all of which relating to diet, of course. I hope this will help in writing anthropology dissertations.
